Fantasy Football 2017-2018

I am beyond excited for this season and fantasy football, I have been loading up on leagues across many different platforms. Including ESPN, Yahoo, Masters Fantasy Football, My Fantasy Football, and Draft. Experimenting with many different set-ups to really get the full experience. Overall, I have eight best ball leagues, one 2QB league, one standard, one-half point PPR, five full point PPR leagues and a Superflex today 9/1. I am also in five dynasty league formats.

After a very successful last season, winning four leagues outright and placing second in a fifth league, I decided to get involved in as many leagues as possible. Much of my overall draft prep is done through a couple different websites, including Rotowire along with their show on Sirius XM Fantasy Sports Radio, and FantasyPros. Both have great writers with great information. Along with great mock drafting software on FantasyPros.

When it comes to drafting, I have always enjoyed drafting on the ends, whether it is the first or last pick in the first round. Having the first pick in a 12 team league allows you to get three players in the top 25 guys and having the last pick allows you to get two guys in the top 13 players. When drafting at the turns, it also lets you have more control of the “runs” that happen in drafts. I much rather be the one who is starting the run to begin a round rather being stuck in the middle and potentially missing out of the run.

For the most part, my draft strategy has always been a balanced approach, I usually like to start the draft with a WR/RB or RB/WR. I will continue this trend through the first four rounds of the draft. Now if I am in a 2QB league I will push up a QB to the third round or even further depending on the settings of the league. In the last 2QB league I did I had the #1 pick and took David Johnson, with my second pick at 2.10 I took Drew Brees (Rodgers went 2.9), and at 3.1 I took Zeke. Now if Rodgers would have fallen, I would have gone with the two stud QBs and locked that position up with my second and third pick. When it comes to a standard league my strategies change a bit, the need for a high reception receiver isn’t there, I am looking for touchdowns over receptions. This pushes guys like Antonio Brown, Mike Evans, Jordy Nelson, and Odell up for WR. If I can get Odell, Brown or Evans in the first, I will take them there then go three running backs over the next three rounds. If I am drafting late in the first round, I will take a guy like McCoy, Ajayi, or Gordon first then Jordy with my second.
