15 Team NFBC Style Roto League

My last draft of the season, this is an NFBC style draft. The NFBC is a high-end fantasy baseball league, I believe the lowest entry fee is 150 in those leagues. This is a cheap copy of that league on Yahoo. It is your basic 5×5 scoring with two catchers, one 1st-SS, one CI and MI, five OF, one util, nine pitchers, and seven reserve players. I have the 9th pick today, I hate these picks. My favorites are picking first or last pick of the first round. Every draft I have done this season I have had the 6th-9th pick.

1.9- Bryce Harper

I am high on the Bryce Harper bounce back season, I think he could be drafted in the first five picks, his a five category guy and great to build around.

2.7- Chris Sale

I wanted one of the top six pitchers, Bumgarner, Scherzer, and Syndergaard went back to back to back. But I am happy with Sale here.

3.9- Jonathan Villar

Villar is 2nd, 3rd, and SS eligible on Yahoo. I wanted that flexibility but, I wanted to lock up steals early, and I did that with Harper and Villar.

4.7- Wil Myers

One of my favorite guys in baseball I had to take him here. My first basemen right now, but can play OF too.

Ryon Healy, one of my sleepers, and my AL Rookie of the Year just went in the 4th round.

5.9- Ian Kinsler

6.7- Wilson Contreras

I went with Kinsler because I needed a higher average guy. Hopefully, he is in the .280-.290 with 20 HR 70-80 RBI, and 100 R scored. It might have been a round early, but I needed my first catcher, and I like Contreras this season.

7.9- Mark Melancon

8.7- Odubel Herrera

I really wanted Danny Duffy or Jose Quintana, but they both went the two picks before, so I decided to get some more steals with Herrera.

9.9- Michael Fulmer

10.7- Julio Urias

Going with the two young pitchers here, I am expecting big things out of these two. I have three starting pitchers Sale, Fulmer, and Urias

11.9- Sam Dyson

12.7- Maikel Franco

I like the Franco pick, he was in a good spot and a 25 HR guy, I was short on HR and RBI, so he will help out.

13.9- John Lackey

14.7- Garrett Richards

15.9- Marcus Semien

16.7- Yasiel Puig

I kind of feel bad about this pick, I don’t like Puig. IF his head is on straight, we have all seen what he can do on the field

17.9- Domingo Santana

18.7- Junior Guerra

19.9- Brandon Kintzler

20.7- Yangervis Solarte

I think Kintzler is going to be the guy for Minnesota, even closers on bad teams can get 30 saves.  Solid 19th round pick. Solarte hit a career-high .286 with 15 HR and 71 RBI. If he can repeat he is going to produce a lot in my CI position.

21.9- Austin Hedges

22.7- Gerardo Parra

With Desmond and Dahl hurt he should get some playing time in LF or at 1st

23.9- Michael Conforto

24.7- James McCann

I wanted a 3rd catcher on my bench, Hedges hasn’t been that impressive in his two call-ups with San Diego. But, with Norris gone he should get the full-time gig. McCann will be a great 3rd Option. He split time with Avila last year, if he goes into the season as the full-time catcher he should be a great 24th round pick.

25.9- Trevor Bauer

26.7- Aaron Judge

27.9- Edison Volquez

28.7- Tyler Chatwood

29.9- Lewis Brinson

30.7- Jose De Leon

It got very ugly in the 29th and 30th round, wasn’t much for options here I decided to go with the two young guys who have the chance to come up mid-season. Two top prospects, hopefully, they make it up sooner than later! I don’t feel great about this squad at all. Feel like I reached a couple of times, especially to get a catcher and some saves.
